26^th October 2011 EagleID is proud to announce and welcome Warren Foster as the Company’s Technical Manager. Warren will be responsible for Technical team leadership, driving revenue, support product and vendor selection, productivity efficiencies as well as general management responsibilities!

He joins the EagleID team from Insight Direct UK an international Fortune 500 IT product and service provider with annual revenues exceeding $4billion spanning 191 countries.

Warren also comes to EagleID with 11+ years experience of project management, sales leadership, financial controlling, technical implementation and service division management supporting pre-and-post sales technology solution provisions for corporate organisations, public sector and SME’s.

Jolly Technologies Announces Multiple Language Support in Release 4.0

Today Jolly Technologies, the world's #1 identity and visitor management Software Company announced full support for Spanish, German and French in their ID Flow, Label Flow and Lobby Track product lines in the upcoming release 4.0. Additional languages and dialects may easily be incorporated by the user through a built-in language translation table. The product is currently available in English.

Using the new 4.0 user interface, each location may be customized for workflow processes and set in a mode appropriate for the user's role. Multiple workstations and locations may be networked through a central shared database. Each workstation may be localized to the appropriate language or dialect of its users.

A new feature in 4.0 is an easy-to-use, form based text editor that makes language translation text available to the user.

"Since expanding our operations into Europe late last year, we have found a tremendous initial interest for our ID Flow and Lobby Track product lines," said Kurt Bell, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Jolly Technologies. "To meet that demand we have not only incorporated translations in four major languages, but have also made it easy for customers and dealers to localize the product into other languages as well. The Community Group for ID Card Professionals now exceeds 500 members

Greetings to everyone! It’s been a while since I last gave an up-date, plenty of good things going on keeping us busy… But, in the meantime, I hope everyone enjoyed Easter and the applicable bank holidays for those of us fortunate. From a British perspective, I trust many enjoyed the Royal Wedding celebrations, reports suggest over 2billion people worldwide watched! A staggering number!

Having a broad understanding of the IT, fast moving Office Supplies and/or Security industries/markets would give you a distinct advantage.

Victory is an amazing feeling, and more so when justly deserved.

We have received so many wonderful compliments, and the number of new enquiries has been astonishing. We were told many times “we’re interested in Plus-Ribbon, but we’ll wait and see the outcome of the High Courts”. We have always respected this and whilst the past 15 months have been challenging, they have actually been very rewarding.

Many within and indeed outside of Eagle have grown during this immense learning curve. It has been a fantastic journey and on so many levels. Not least of all, maintaining some momentum and witnessing Plus-Ribbon continue to grow during turbulent times. Globally too as Plus-Ribbon is selling in 55 countries!

I have always considered that our move may encourage more innovation within our industry, serving only to expand further and expedite the opportunities available. The SD260 printer's ENERGY STAR qualification makes it the first of its kind. The SD260 printer earned its ENERGY STAR qualification by requiring less energy than its predecessors and saving users money from reduced energy costs.

Originals or High Performance Compatibles?

With a global downturn biting hard and prices increasing rapidly, both organisations and consumers are looking for more ways to save money. As a result, it’s not surprising that the sales of compatible printer consumables is increasing, but many people are still confused about the implications of using alternative ribbons for their card printers.

We hope this introduction overcomes any fears you maybe harbouring!

What are High Performance (HP) Compatibles?

Compatible ribbons are consumables produced by third parties, as opposed to the printer manufacturer’s chosen supplier.

Plus-Ribbon HP was born in 2004 out of a partnership with SONY Chemicals whom shortly after became the official supplier of Fargo card printer ribbons.

By 2008, SONY Chemicals was acquired by a Japanese company. This strategic acquisition also delivered them the return of Fargo’s printer ribbon business, but more interestingly it provided an unprecedented opportunity to close down the fast growing ‘SONY produced’ compatible ribbon division.

Around 85% of the world’s card printer ribbons are purchased by Zebra, Datacard, Magicard, Fargo & JVC. Around 3.3million ribbons are produced by just one company, the very same one that acquired SONY Chemicals and which ever way you look at it, that’s a lot of control by just one company!

Plus-Ribbon was launched in 2004 to support two fundamental objectives…

What are the advantages of using compatible ID ribbons?

The obvious advantage is cost – Plus-Ribbon compatible range is now available on a wide range of card printers and just keeps growing. Savings of up to 60% are typical when compared to original branded ribbons.

How are compatible ribbons made?

Some compatible ribbons are derived from only one type of film (material), in theory, many compatible ribbon makers commission a jumbo size roll of film that is then slit and wound onto varying cores to suit different types of printer models and brands.

These companies believe a simple ‘one type’ material approach to fit all is a worthy contender – but this belief is incorrect!

Whilst the jumbo roll material maybe purchased from reputable manufacturers, compatibles produced in this way are generally poor quality, unreliable and produce results that negate the savings first offered. Ribbon composite values must first and foremost be designed to suit the differing characteristics presented by each card printer in each class. For example, heat tolerances and ribbon tension management.

This is really only a fall back cover. Since 2004, many tens of thousands of ribbons have been sold and to date we’ve had only one inconclusive claim, and that was when a ribbon was left in the printer returned, to date the claim has not been supported by any evidence from the manufacturer.

Cards Asia 2011 supports Eagle Technologies & Plus-Ribbon after Volcano disruption

Eagle Technologies is absolutely delighted to highlight the generosity shown by Cards Asia (Terrapinn Holdings Ltd).

Eagle Tech was all set to exhibit at Cards Asia 2010 in Singapore to officially launch the infamous Plus-Ribbon range on the APAC region, and to meet some of our new clients. Sadly the Icelandic Volcano closed UK & European airspace and the Eagle was grounded!

Cards Asia team have generously offered Eagle a free booth (4J07) by way of compensation for an act of nature, which as we know they didn’t need to do. We are amazed at this offer and gracefully accept. Thank you Cards Asia!

Our thanks also to Wangz Hotel who accepted our cancellation on all 5 rooms for 5 nights just one day before check-in WITHOUT any cost to us, again saying the Volcano is not our fault and we prefer to be your choice for future accommodation needs when you next visit Singapore. Thank you Wangz!
