Eagle Technologies End of Year Message from Chris Rayner (Managing Director)

“I can’t believe another year has passed and what a year indeed”. We’ve witnessed hope and despair amongst our customers and industry colleagues. Some say it has been their best year, some say a nightmare, others neutral. Eagle started the year searching the sky for thermals. We had no idea what kind of flight we were in for and started to flap our wings in new directions. We’ve seen growth and opportunity, hope and anguish. Eagle Europe grew by over 50% and Eagle USA relocated to a larger facility to satisfy demand. Eagle UK grew market share and kept pricing stable.

We launched our new Plus-Ribbon line and whilst controversial to some, the majority have indeed welcomed and embraced our move. It’s time for a change! We’ve witnessed card printer manufacturers make threats on partnerships, printer warranties and adjusting firmware in an attempt to lock you out. Datacard have commenced litigation in their attempt to stop us, again further supporting our Plus-Brand quality, but in all these cases we continue to see growth, even with the abuse we endured at Cartes 2009 in Paris, it has been an amazing year. In just 9 months Plus-Ribbon has spread its wings to over 50 countries. We won’t be shot down; it’s time for a change! Furthermore we introduced Plus-Clean with immense success, securing our mission to bring high quality products to market with attractive savings. Ensuring our customers own a stronger position to compete and more profitably is a positive contribution to your sustainability and client proposition, and we’re extremely proud of this. Mid 2010 should see the UK rise out of recession and finally we start to witness encouraging growth. Thereafter we’ll rediscover the positive feelings wiped out towards the end of 2008. If you survived until now, there’s a good chance you have made it for good. Managing cash flow, receiving payment and paying bills on-time remains critical to business, after all, business and our combined contribution is the backbone of our economy, confidence, prosperity and opportunity. To everybody that has supported Eagle during the worse downturn since the 1930’s, everyone at Eagle sincerely thanks you for your ongoing support. Here’s wishing us all a successful 2010.
